We have been selling a lot of Specialty plates on eBay so I asked Tom for the definition of Specialty plates. He said that they’re plates that recognize a specific group. Examples would be military, collegiate, causes, or clubs. There are also Special Event plates which are for an event that happens for a specific purpose and can actually be on a car for a specified amount of time. Given the wide variety of license plates that are produced these days, I think that even narrowing down a collection of Specialty plates from a single state would keep a collector busy for quite a while.
