“Amateur repaints”

Through the years, Tom has obtained many “amateur repaints” as he calls them. These repaints are usually older plates, often with a good base on which collectors have done a fast paint job, sometimes with an entirely wrong paint color. He intends to auction some of them on ebay over the next few years, always indicating that they are repaints. Collectors purchase these plates to 1) have them repainted professionally or 2) to “fill a hole” in a collection until a better plate can be obtained.

On another note, our little Boyd Weekly Popularity Contest winners: The 1921 Nebraska (https://www.ebay.com/itm/363438001978) and the NWT Bear (https://www.ebay.com/itm/363438004979) license plates have 17 Watchers on each auction ending this Sunday night. It’s interesting to note that one of our recently sold auction that started at $2.99 with minimal Watchers went for $99.00…..one never really knows what is wanted/needed! Also, on a whim, I checked out next week’s auctions and the 1947 Oregon license plate (https://www.ebay.com/itm/384240265746) already has 19 Watchers!
