Colorado Denim run took 16 years to complete!
We received good news this week from a Colorado collector who, after a 16 year adventure, completed his Colorado denim run. The last plate to be added was from Mineral county. It came from an elderly former Creede resident who ran them for 24 years. It is worth mentioning that newspaper ads, wanted posters, a dozen trips to the county, post office time, and perhaps 2 hours of Carfax time didn’t pay off. However, writing a simple letter – like the letters I wrote to every small county clerk in 2005 – and a solid cash offer got the deal moving and ultimately completed. He was not sad the journey is over, rather just relieved. The collector said that there is no plate in history that he had wanted more or spent more effort chasing and a simple letter made it fall. It’s great fun for us to hear about successful endings to “the chase”.
